Foundations Dance Company was established with two goals: (1) provide quality professional dance training and (2) spread the love of dance to those who have not had the opportunity to experience the joy it can bring.

FDC provides dance technique classes focused on building the skills necessary to enter the dance profession.  FDC’s instructors have all received extensive training in dance from some of the most prestigious institutions in the country.  Our instructors have worked professionally as dancers and provide their unique insights to their students. We also recognize that being a great dancer does not necessarily mean someone will be a great teacher.  Each of our teachers has years of experience as instructors and have the skills needed to reach each student in their class.

FDC limits its class sizes to ensure that each student in the class will receive personalized instruction.  Each student is provided instruction in technique, dance etiquette, exposure to the history of dance, and opportunities to perform.  Students are taught responsibility by being held responsible to rehearse each day’s lessons outside of class.  Students are taught respect for themselves and their art by being held to the traditions of dance etiquette.  Students are also provided exposure to the history of dance performers and choreographers.  We feel that you cannot truly understand the current world of dance and be part of its future without having a basic understanding of where it came from.

Performance is an integral part of dance.  FDC is dedicated to providing its students numerous opportunities each year to display what they have learned as well as hone their performance skills.  Every three months an in-house performance will be held to allow students an opportunity to display their new skills to a small audience.  Students may also participate in dance competitions so that they are exposed to dancers from other dance studios as well as receive feedback on the development of their dance skills from professional judges.   Providing numerous opportunities to perform builds our students’ confidence on stage as well as the development of performance skills.

FDC’s founder is dedicated to providing students with a positive environment that promotes their growth as both a dancer and a person.  In our drive to spread the love of dance FDC provides introductory dance classes to both young children and the developmentally disabled. FDC believes that music and dance can benefit everyone, and that everyone deserves the opportunity to have it in their lives.

FDC provides younger children dance classes that expose them to multiple styles of dance.  This is done for two reasons, first it allows the student a chance to learn about the many types of dance that are out there and second the dance class is split into short blocks of instruction to facilitate keeping the student engaged in class, allowing them to receive a greater benefit from each class.  The structure of these classes is less rigid than the more advanced classes and is focused on not only developing dance technique but to also develop a positive life-long relationship with dance.

FDC also provides our Danspirations’ classes, classes specifically designed so that students with developmental disabilities have the chance to develop a relationship with music and dance.  We realize that children with disabilities spend many evenings receiving therapies or that parents may be afraid of enrolling their child in classes in fear that their child may be stigmatized.  By offering Danspirations’ classes we strive to provide an environment where the students feel accepted and can have fun regardless of limitations placed on them by their disability and provide the student access to an activity that is thought of as being reserved for their typical peers.   As our Danspiration students develop the requisite skills, they are encouraged to participate in general technique classes
